If you’re interested in open research / open science / open scholarship, and you’re not sure where to start, or if you have plenty of experience and you’re willing to share, please join our friendly group. We welcome researchers at all levels for interesting conversations!

This month, we're going to explore the topic of fraud and fabrication. Retraction Watch is a blog founded in 2010 by two science journalists, Ivan Oransky and Adam Marcus, to "track retractions as a window into the scientific process" (https://retractionwatch.com/).

In an article titled "We must be open about our mistakes", Jim Woodgett says "the website Retraction Watch shines light on problems with papers and, by doing so, educates and celebrates research ethics and good practice. Peer pressure is a powerful tool — but only if peers are aware of infractions and bad practice" (https://doi.org/10.1038/489007a).

Topic: Introduction to Retraction Watch: "Librarian finds ‘preposterous number’ of fake references in paper from Springer Nature journal", https://retractionwatch.com/2026/03/06/librarian-finds-preposterous-number-of-fake-references-in-paper-from-springer-nature-journal/
