Searching and Cleaning Data with Regular Expressions
This workshop will provide an introduction to regular expressions - a powerful tool for pattern matching and text manipulation. Participants will learn about the basics of regular expressions syntax (symbol classes, quantifiers, groups, backreferences) and how to use them for searching and editing text data. We will work in a text editor and online environment, https://regex101.com/
This workshop is ideal for beginners - no prior experience required.
NB: Researchers will need to bring your own laptop with a preinstalled text editor that supports regular expressions, e.g. Notepad++ Atom Geany Brackets or Sublime (there are many more).
Data will be provided to work with but participants are welcome to bring their own.
Location: RDC room 118, Research & Innovation Centre.
