Introduction to Linked Data

Introduction to Linked Data In-Person / Online

Presenter: Oksana Dereza (Library / Data Science Institute)

This workshop offers an introduction to linked data concepts and technologies, focusing on the practical use of RDF (Resource Description Framework), OWL (Web Ontology Language), and TTL (Turtle format) for structuring and connecting data. Participants will learn how to model data with Protégé, query datasets using SPARQL, and understand the principles of semantic web and data interoperability. By the end of the session, attendees will gain hands-on experience in creating and managing linked data. The workshop is ideal for beginners — no prior experience required!

Prerequisites: Please download and install Protégé from the official website: https://protege.stanford.edu/  You will also need a text editor (Notepad, Notepad++, Atom, Sublime Text, gedit etc.)  A dataset will be provided — but you are very welcome to bring your own!
