Using GIMP: The Free & Open Source Image Editor

Using GIMP: The Free & Open Source Image Editor In-Person

Whether you are a graphic designer, photographer, or illustrator, GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) provides you with the tools you need to get the job done. You can use GIMP for photo retouching, creating original artwork, and graphic design.

This workshop will provide you with a whistle stop tour of GIMP tool functionality with a focus on masks and what can be done with layer masking.

This session will take place in the MakerSpace so you can either bring your own laptop with GIMP installed or work on one of the MakerSpace machines.

The workshop will be delivered by Dr. Attracta Brennan.

Dr. Attracta Brennan is a lecturer in the School of Computer Science at NUI Galway. Her research interests span a number of areas, including: adaptive learning systems, game based learning, socio-technical systems to support older people, AR/VR and medical informatics.
